Her meteoric rise and two Grammy nominated albums prompted The Chronicle to dub her the "Overnight Jazz Diva".

The Children's Museum brings the jungle to the city

WEST HARTFORD, CT - The Children's Museum in West Hartford is bringing jungle fun to city life!

April 2nd will be Jungle Day at the Museum. The CT Parrot Society will bring an array of colorful birds, and animal curator Laura Boglisch will present rainforest lizards, including a variety of colorful geckos. Children will have the chance to get up close and personal with animals that they would typically not see in the temperate New England climate.

Visitors can view and touch these interesting animals while learning about them and their natural environments. There will be jungle-themed activities all day, including rainforest crafts that children can take home and a Saharan scavenger hunt to challenge kids to put on their detective hats. With exotic birds, unusual geckos, and fun games, Jungle Day is a singular opportunity for children to experience the jungle.

Jungle Day activities are free with general admission to the Children's Museum in West Hartford. The activities will run from 11 am to 2 pm.

Nancy Tucker Family Show at Infinity Bistro March 14th


Nancy Tucker's songs are filled with fun, frolic, and life affirming messages. Harwinton Woman's Club to host dance on March 27

The Harwinton Woman’s Club will be hosting its Winter Wind Down – A Social Gathering and Dance at the Harwinton Rod & Gun Club on 123 Campville Hill Road, Harwinton on Saturday, March 27, from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. This is a BYOB event with mixers and munchies provided. A disc jockey will provide the entertainment and raffle prizes have been donated from a host of local businesses including J.C. Penney’s, Tony’s Package Store, Sky Top Lanes, A Healing Trail, Eastwoods Country Club, Torrington Country Club, O&G Industries, Torrington Savings Bank, Cinerom, Mohawk Mountain, Hair By Design, Passiaflora Tea and Herbal Room and the Warner Theater. Norfolk Volunteer Fire to host benefit party on Saturday

Norfolk Volunteer Fire to host benefit party
NORFOLK — The Norfolk Volunteer Fire Department is hosting a St. Patrick’s Day Dance in the Hall of Flags at Botelle School on Saturday from 8 p.m. to midnight.Proceeds will enable the fire department to buy new turnout gear for its firefighters, Jonathan Barbagallo, an EMT with the Norfolk Lions Club Ambulance and the Norfolk Volunteer Fire Department, said.A single ticket costs $15 and a couples ticket costs $25. Tickets can be purchased from any firefighter or at the door.Entertainment will be provided by Avallone Productions. Botelle School is a smoke-free campus.

United Way Benefit at Infinity Hall

The Cartells will be performing a benefit concert at Infinity Hall in Norfolk. Jazz, swing, rhythm&blues and popular music of all styles are equally represented in their impressive repertoire, and their dedication to defining and fulfilling the wants&needs of their audience results in every appearance being an event to remember.

The concert is open to the public. The show starts at 7:30 pm on Wednesday April 28th. Ticket prices are $42.55 for general admission and $87.75 for mezzanine. A portion of ticket proceeds will benefit The United Way of Northwest CT.

Late Nite Catechism at Warner Theater this weekend

Late Nite Catechism will be performing this weekend at the Warner Theater. Tickets are $29.50 with group discounts available. Showtimes are Friday March 5th at 7:30pm; Saturday March 6th at 2 pm and 7:30 pm; and Sunday March 7th at 2 pm.

The play is described as uproariously funny, taking the audience back to their catechism days. The irrepressible "Sister" teaches class to a roomful of "students" (the audience). The performance is interactive with "students" being rewarding for correct answers and reprimanded for being naughty.
